I typically take the train to school each day (despite my previous experience). My main reason for this is because I have to purchase a Metrolink Pass as a student (its part of my fees), and it’s a great way to save on gas. The one thing about taking the train is it does not operate on your schedule, you have to operate on its schedule. Sure, if you miss a train, another one will be by in fifteen minutes, but who wants to wait that long…especially since I have to ride the train for an hour each way. I had that horrible feeling a lot of train riders have experienced; the sight of walking up to the station, being about 100 yards away, and seeing a train going in your direction pulling up to the platform. I had a very heavy book bag in tow with a long umbrella attached to it, which I contend made me shimmy when I ran like an out of balance washing machine. I ran up to the platform , shimmy all the way. I was about twenty feet from the train when I saw it close its doors. I lunged for the open door button, and long and behold the doors opened up for me. I walked into the train, much to the approval of the other passengers for “barely making it”. I did what anyone would do in this situation, I went into my Molly Shannon pose and said “Superstar!”
