John Rooney, calm down!

I make no bones about the fact that I am a Cubs fan. That being said, I end up watching and listening to a lot of Cardinals baseball because its everywhere where I live. On the radio side, I think Mike Shannon is my favorite radio announcer on the planet. He is the symbol of smooth and fluid as he calls a game. Then there is John Rooney.

Rooney is the symbol of everything that baseball on radio stands for. Baseball on the radio is a balance between the passive and the active. You can listen to a baseball game on the radio and work on your car or sit out on your deck and grill. When you listen to baseball on the radio, I'm pretty sure your blood pressure isn't supposed to go up. With every call, John Rooney makes my skin crawl because EVERY SINGLE TIME THE BALL IS PUT IN PLAY HE ACTS LIKE THE SEVENTH GAME OF THE WORLD SERIES WAS WON WITH A GRAND SLAM. (AND THERE'S A SWEEEEEEEEEING!) He makes me nervous, and I don't even like the Cardinals.

I have plenty more to say about this, but I think this is good enough. I'm really interested to hear what the Cardinals fans who read this have to say. Please comment...please :)
