As a picture

As a picture
Living its life in suspense
And without motion
My heart just stood there
Waiting for the next beat to arrive

The blatantly unseen

With the arrogance we show
In the face of the blatantly unseen
Yet we walk out the door alone
With a sense of predictability

A day was such as this
A day of special occasion
The blatant was in full view
What is a mortal man to do?

From times past I know
A power greater than me was needed.
I went to my hometown to a place
Where I have never been before

The raindrops fell upon my head
As the circles radiated from the lake
Sitting by a spillway a waterfall flows
And that is what I hear

God's voice is like that you know
The drops my be falling harder
But the voice can be heard
What are you going to focus on?

Walk Forward

Breathing a breath to the air
Seeing its reflection in memory
Hearing my single steps on the sidewalk
Echoing against the walls we once were

On a cold night like this
At the spot I am at past
You were at my side in all
Ready to walk to a new day

Our day never came
as my solitary walk attests
and as my steps walk cold
they walk forward to seasons anew

Dreamland

As I lay here, 1500 miles from my bed in a place distant but familiar, I feel my heart shake the frame of where I exist. As the mattress shakes with each beat, I know my mind is as far away as where I am. My mind is with someone else.

Peaches

I was walking in the field
When I came upon a tree
The shade provided respite
On my journey to where I was

The tree was filled with blooms
Of the most beautiful flower
So delicate to the senses
So warm to my tired eyes

As I let time pass beside the tree
I allow my mind to wonder
To where I may go next
And how will I know if I arrive

As my rest became sleep
And the tree became my shelter
So did I thank God for allowing
My journey to exist and be

As time passed with the tree
Those blooms became fruit
Filled with beautiful warm color
Whose sweet taste I long for

Under that tree on my journey
I had discovered Peaches
And may time and God tell
Where the journey's end

the one

I think so much what my wife must be like

how she will be perfect for me

and how she will understand me

with all my quirks

and what she must sound like when she is sleeping beside me breathing

with the faint light across her face from the moon.
